As our Councilman, Tom Simplot has a record of success and results.
His leadership has made a difference for Phoenix and for us. Tom’s accomplishments are results we can see:
- Spearheading business, neighborhood, and city cooperative efforts resulting in a revitalized and vibrant Melrose District on the 7th Avenue Curve.
- Tackling child safety Issues at 35th Avenue & McDowell Road resulting in a new pedestrian bridge, a new neighborhood learning center and a new Boys & Girls Club.
- Supporting businesses along the light rail construction project resulting in city assistance for businesses struggling through the construction process.
- Fighting for stronger crystal-meth ordinances resulting in the state’s first ordinance limiting the availability of the raw materials for meth production.
- Initiating central-city crime summits resulting in greater enforcement capability for Phoenix’s loud-party ordinance and much needed pay-phone regulations.
- Creating the Day Camping Ordinance which helps stops transients from setting up camps in public parks, while exploring the feasibility of a Housing First program to provide the homeless with alternative shelter.
- Championing quality-of-life issues resulting in a city-wide pilot program for shopping cart retrievals.
- A new, privately funded dog park at Steele Indian School Park.
